Continued on after summiting Bear Mtn. in CT, through Sages Ravine. The most snow I came across was in Sage's, up to 5 or 6 inches in the shaded valley. the going was still pretty good though, considering. Cool area with nice cascades and ledges. After the tricky crossing, I pounded out the next section to Laurel Ridge campsite and checked out Bear Rock Falls from the top. Nice ledge here with good views. Made a call to my Dad regarding my pick-up time and location down on Rt. 41. After a little break I continued on and began climbing Mt. Race. Great ledges up near the top, the highlight of the day for sure. Race summit had great 360 degree views, beautiful. Descending the North side was more snow and ice down to Race Brook Falls trail. RBFT was a nice 2 mile hike out, impressive upper waterfall. Great day out in CT and MA. |
