| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking lot is +/- 4 miles up a dirt road with numerous water bars on it. I was able to drive it in my VW Passat car with no issues, but I had to be careful and pick my way across the water bars slowly to avoid bottoming out. A vehicle with ground clearance would be helpful but not necessary if you're careful. You could probably drive another 0.2 miles in a vehicle with more ground clearance, but not more than that due to very tall water bars. |

| Comments: |
I hiked this while in the region for training. I arrived at the summit 1 hour after parking the car, so it's an easy hike. The Herd Path is easy to find and easy to follow up, but I lost it twice on the way down and had to resort to my previous GPS track to find it again since it's MUCH easier traveling on it. As such the return trip took 1.5 hours. Close brush in places with branches sticking down, so eyewear is recommended. Gloves and poles helped to move some of the brush out of the way. No water anywhere on the trail so bring your own. |
