great xc ski conditions from Abol Bridge to Roaring Brook on fast hard-packed snow ... Chimney Pond Trail well packed by BSP ranger mobiles ... Basin Pond crossing well frozen ... we climbed Cathedral Gully #2 (crampons, ice axes, rope gear) to Baxter Peak, over to Hamlin Peak, down Hamlin Ridge ... crampons and snowshoes would be helpful on summit hiking trails ...
Tableland has good icy scoured snow coverage ... Saddle Trail looked hard packed ... Chimney Slide looked great with mostly hard packed snow but high wind forecast led us to climb a shorter gully ... Basin snow fields and gullies looked good for skiing ...
