| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Ski trails require $10 pass. We were able to spot a car about 1/2 mi from the start of the Firewarden's trail. Road in was icy, but clear of snow. Not too much room for cars, but with care, you can get a few in. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow - Unpacked Powder |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The road has two bridges out less than 1/4mi from where we parked. One was well ice bridged, the other was adequately ice bridged. These could be an issue if bridging is not adequate. If you can park as close as we did, it would be wise to scout them out when you spot a car. |

| Comments: |
We got an early start on the ski trails. The sugarloaf spur was hard to find, and we ended up bushwhacking a very short distance to intersect it. Consistently, 6" to 1' unpacked powder under a crust and over a consolidated base from Sugar to Abe. In many places, the indentation of previous track was visible. The trail was tricky to follow near the Spaulding lean-to, but we were always able to reconect. Very cold and windy on Abe. The Firwarden's trail is hard to find from the top, I think due to small cairns. Big thanks to Joanie for handling much of the above treeline navigating. Thanks to Joanie and Suzanne for good support and company on this challenging one.
