Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: It appears that the professional trail crew has been on the Carlo Col Trail too this season. The Carlo Col Shelter and tent sites are surrounded by a big blow down mess starting right at the beginning of the spur trail, poor caretaker if he/she has to clean this mess up--the professional trail crew needed to stop by there. The Goose Eye Trail has a few blowdowns that were not difficult to get around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any today
Bugs
Bugs: None biting, saw a few flying mobs of flies circling but they didn't bother us. No ticks today :)

Comments
Comments: Great hike in the sunshine. We passed a group of backpackers just gearing up probably headed to the shelter since it was already mid-day. The Mahoosuc Trail/AT was fun and we met a few hikers and backpackers. Views of nearby Sunday River Ski Area, the Presidentials and deep into Maine past Old Speck and beyond were super dupper. Climbing up Goose Eye's steep ledges on the iron rungs and steep ladder was a joy. We hung out a long time on Goose Eye's summits telling tales and soaking in the grand vista while eating our second lunch of the day. Then I realized I didn't see my rig's key in the mesh pocket in my pack,ARGH!!! The Goose Eye Trail is lovely and has the best footing once off the summit cone and almost made me forget the stress I was feeling that I had no idea where my car key might be hiding. Becca was not amused (I don't blame her). Luckily I found my key where I left it, right on the bumper. Great day on the trails. All's well that ends well!
