Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, July 26, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: CVR is in OKAY shape. Lots of potholes, sketchy bridges, and rocks that made me nervous for my little Mazda3. I drove all the way to the closed gate at the metal grate bridge and walked the final 0.7 mi to the AT TH.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Just a few smaller wet areas on the logging roads; all rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The AT is in fine shape, of course. The herd path has a few down trees, but nothing that you can't just step over.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I wouldn't do this with a dog.

Comments
Comments: Hike up the Crockers was as expected. I'd love to do them again when it's actually nice out. Totally socked in the whole time. I had red varying reports on the herdpath to Redington, but with carefully written directions, a good GPS track, and simply paying attention to my surroundings, I was able to make my way to Redington in 0:50. *NOTE* If it's even a little bit wet, you should bring full rain gear for this bushwhack--the corridor is very narrow, and any moisture on the overhanging spruce will undoubtedly end up on you. I wore full gear w/o rain and was still soaked at the end. Logging roads are fine, almost enjoyably remote, but again, rain gear.
