 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I missed a turn and ended up going up to some hotel complex before turning around and getting it right on my way to Wright. This despite reading the AMC Guide, albeit the 26th ed. There is now a trail sign at the trail head, with an arrow pointing to parking just a bit up the road, where there is room for a handful of cars. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in good shape. Existing waters functioning, trails well brushed, signs in place. There is just the empty wood backing to a sign where the now discontinued north branch of the trail meets the current/south branch. There is a modest loop trail not mentioned in the AMC Guide off the Wright that starts just up from the trailhead and has light blue paint blazes and an obvious footpath. It goes to the brook then follows it. Midway or so a short hike up a hill could be made to a cairn on the main trail. Further up the brook it passes some very interesting rock formations on the brook's sides. Then it ascends to meet the main trail, again with light blue paint blazes. This unlisted trail was present when we did the Wright trail a couple of years ago, but it is more obvious and used now, perhaps by people swimming in the brook, or visiting the rock formations, or (gasp!) drinking Bud Lights and leaving their cans. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Easy trail for Pepper, but there isn't water above the brook by the campsite spur until one is way down Goose Eye. Pepper missed his sip n dips, but the mostly cloudy day meant temps were mild, so he was fine. |

Some sort of nylon strap with Velcro. I picked it up as trash, but if it has some value let me know. |

Wright, camp spur, Mahoosuc, Goose Eye, Wright "loop"
The Wright trail, in my opinion, is not all that rough or challenging. Indeed, it has a wonderful long mostly open ridge hike on top which has great vistas. I love it. Goose Eye trail is a pleasant woods walk through some nice forests. By doing a Goose Eye traverse of sorts, we not only had a nice hike, but we avoided an awful drive up Success Pond Rd to do the Goose Eye trail. We ran into a father-son team who have a place on Success Pond, and they said they and many others some in from the Maine side since the NH approach is so bad. The road into the Wright trail only has a modest gravel road section, the lower part has just been greatly widened and is smooth, and the upper part is in good shape. We didn't see too many people all day; quite a contrast with the Appalachia and Lafayette trailheads. Thanks Pepper. |
