| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I'd highly recommend getting a parking reservation for the trailhead you wish to start from, since the Katahdin trailheads close once the lots are full. I didn't have a reservation, but luckily, I got an unreserved spot due to leaving early and being first in line at the gate. |

Not bad for most of the way due to my early start, but they started to come out near the end. |

| Comments: |
Finally got to hike the famous Mount Katahdin! The Hunt Trail's beginning and end mile are fairly easy, but the middle section is long, steep, and rough, with a lot of scrambling & exposed scrambling. Needless to say, going down was white-knuckle! Tough but fun & rewarding hike. Views were to die for! 11 mi roundtrip, 4,200 ft. of elevation gain.
NOTE: I would not recommend Katahdin, at least via the Hunt Trail, to those who are not in good physical shape, beginner hikers, or unused to/afraid of exposed scrambling. |
