Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked on CVR (signed as Caribou Pond Road) just before the wooded bridge after the steel grate bridge. Had no issues getting to that point with a truck (wooden bridge just after the area we parked has some big potholes on the far side). Short walk from there to the AT crossing. Car with reasonable ground clearance could probably make it to the steel grate bridge (room to park just before it), but road is eroded just after that bridge. Wouldn't make much sense to drive much further than the AT crossing (ie to the Redington logging roads), as some of the smaller bridges have collapsed, resulting in very deep holes. All in all, the road seems to be in the same shape it was in a year ago.

Comments
Comments: Trails were dry with a few very minor mudpits. Ascended via the AT to Sugarloaf Side Trail, then headed south from there, eventually to Abraham. A little bit south of the campsite, the trail splits and both branches are white blazed, and on either end, one is blocked off...they eventually rejoin after maybe 100 yards. After Abe, back tracked to just north of Spaulding campsite, followed a herd path perhaps to the AT boundary, then bushwhacked west to an old logging landing. Fairly thick in places, but was able to follow the roads back to CVR, saving the reclimb of Spaulding and the steep portion of the AT down from the Sugarloaf area.
