Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Two other cars were at trailhead when I arrived, another when I left and two more after the bridges. Road access was as terrible as I've read about, so if you have low clearance you're better off parking at the bridges.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Both bridges across Rapid Stream have been rebuilt, so it is possible to drive to Rapid Stream trailhead now. First water crossing was slippery, I went upstream a short ways to cross. Other crossings were easily crossed.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A trail maintenance crew was on the trail removing some significant blowdowns, so the trail should be pretty clear now.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw no pups today.
Bugs
Bugs: Some black flies, no mosquitoes yet.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There was a blue bandanna a little way below treeline hanging in a tree.

Comments
Comments: It was a beautiful day today with high clouds and hazy conditions (I could just see Mount Washington from the summit). The trail was in decent condition, some mud and deep leaves down low and still a little snow and ice up high, but everything was avoidable. The summit and views were amazing. I stopped to talk with the group clearing blowdowns at the shelter and again at the summit and saw a handful of other people on the trail. My guess is that the trail access scares people off because a mountain like this anywhere else would have been crowded on today's summer-like conditions (my car said it was 80 and there was a cool breeze on the summit). A full trail report with photos and video will be forthcoming.
