I drove up after work Friday evening to hit South Crocker for sunrise. I got to Caribou Pond Road at 12am and to the Crocker Cirque Tentsite at 1am. I slung my hammock between two tree for two hours and at 3am headed for the summit. I sat at the South Crocker vista for an hour enjoying breakfast, coffee and the sunrise. I only had the blackflies for company. At 5:30am I headed to North Crocker (mostly to get the section of AT between the peaks) and then headed back to my car. I didn't see anyone else until I was halfway between South Crocker and the tentsite. I stopped into the tentsite on my way out to check out the Cirque and saw a few of my fellow campers just getting ready to head out. I was back to my car at 8am. I will have a full trail report with sunrise photos and timelapse video on the blog eventually. |
