Comments
Comments: Great day up in Maine. A few notes I would make:
You have to hike to the TH Caribou Mtn Rd for a little ways. Pretty flat, just adds to mileage.
The AT is steeper after the campsite than I anticipated. Pretty good footing the whole way though, just slower going than I anticipated (was more concerned with BW then getting to S. Crocker and didn't read any trail descripts).
Bushwhack was well marked with surveyor tape. Obv BW was not maintained, so there are some blowdowns and many areas where tight (pants will probably save you from scrapes). I would say it's hard to get lost on it though.
BW was also longer than 1.2 miles. My phone had it closer to 1.8 miles (so anticipate an extra mile)
Overall I was expecting 8.6 miles, and ended up recording 10.6 miles (granted I had to backtrack a bit after leaving my poles at one of the lookouts).
