| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We spotted cars at the eastern end (Miles Notch Trail head) at a grassy bumpout outside a gate. The road was in pretty good shape, but we were glad to have higher clearance cars. We began our hike on the western trail head off of Rt. 113. There is a nice bumpout along the road a few yards south of the trail head. |

Super pleasant day. Easy grades. Nice open forest, mushrooms, fall leaves, brooks and gentle terrain. Trails get light use, so we did have to "pay attention" in places where the hobble was thick and treadway was light. The only tricky section was the 0.2 miles of Haystack Notch Trail on the eastern end. We came out of the woods and hit a logging area. A logging road pulled us to the left (downhill)... but after a few yards, we sensed this was wrong, and backtracked... finding a faint treadway through some grass.
Nice day out with Barb, Lew, Dave, Sandy & Bruce. |
