Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Lord Hill, Pine Hill, ME
Trails
Trails: Deer Hill Road, Barbour Road, Conant Trail, Horshoe Pond Trail, Mine Loop Trail, Mine Loop Connector
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Wednesday, May 3, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Deer Hill Road is gated about 1 mile in which nixed our plan to start at the Horshoe Pond Trailhead. We were able to park in a small pull out just before the gate and walked Deer Hill Road to Barbour Road to pick up the Conant Trailhead. When the gate is open, there is parking on Barbour Road for 2-3 cars and parking at the pullout by Horshoe Pond Trail for a few cars. I imagine it won't be long before the gate is open.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few crossings, minor rock hops or jump overs
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: These trails are in excellent shape! Clearly blazed and signed. Maybe two small step over blow downs the entire way. The southern part of Conant Trail is currently closed due to logging. The sign says it will reopen by the end of Spring 2017 but as long as the sign is up it is closed. I'll have to go back for that 1.9 section.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Maizy (mid size yellow lab) had a ball on these trails! Lots of running water today thanks to recent rains for her to slurp and sit in.
Bugs
Bugs: Some gnats

Comments
Comments: Since the last trip report for these trails/peaks was from 2015 (submitted by my friend Bill) I thought I'd write in with some updates ;)

These are really nice trails for walking/running. The mine was pretty cool too though my friend that was with me said it was considerably fuller the last time she was there 6 years ago. Lots and lots of deer, moose, and bear scat! Lovely quiet trails these are :)

On a side note: the gates on 113 are open!
