Comments: If you ever have a friend who says lets bushwhack up the north or any side of fort say you are doing your hair that day. We placed a car at Marston. Wayne had permits for Kahtadin Stream. because we had gone out to place the car and start for day permits is 6 am there is a log jam of people on the below treeline parts of the trail up to the beginnings of the boulders. Got to show off some of my new rock climbing skills skirting climbers jammed in the rocks and we pretty much flew up hunt to Baxter and over to Hamlin under partly cloudy skies with some good winds. Sun came out as we descended to Davis pond. What a beautiful spot. We continued to the river crossing and then to above where the drainage comes out between Mullen and Fort. The first third was pleasant old growth. The second tight but doable and the upper third a knife fight that left us doubting we could get through it. We got spot on to the North side of Fort and realized there was little herd path to the other side. We finally fought through that to the summit. Coming off to NB there are several side trails that make little sense. Halfway through the mess we met Per and Helle Frost out for an evening trip to Fort? We managed to get it to get it together and get out right before dark. Congrats to DonnieS who we met at Marston preparing to finish his 67. So in case there is any doubt in anyone's mind unless you want pain and sufffering do not bushwhack up Fort it was brutal! Really brutal!
