| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Road looks like its getting plenty of logging use. Plowed but rutted up from the recent thaw withe logging trucks driving over it. My Outback got all the way to "trailhead" |

Completed Elephant. With the recent thaw and freeze, the snow was pretty stable except of some spruce traps. During my path up I started aiming directly at the summit a little too early. This lead to some really tough spruce walls and spruce traps that neither Dixie or I liked very much (nor my pack which ripped at some point). Summit canister was frozen so I was unable to open it. Took some pics with Dixie wearing the elephant nose and came back a little further down the ridge between the elephants. You can spend a lot more time in the fir waves to get back down to the overgrown trail. It was a much easier hike down than up. |
