|Date of Hike:
||Tuesday, February 27, 2018|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Parked at base lodge.
||Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
||Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||One of us postholed down to a deep puddle (wet boot and sock) on the way down Saddleback to the low point between peaks. This was just before the ice falls. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
|Lost and Found:
||We used snowshoes on the uphill access from the base lodge, then switched to microspikes along the ridge. It would be possible to do the whole trip on microspikes, but if I were to go again tomorrow, I'd climb with snowshoes and leave them at tree line to be picked up on the way down. Mixed bag of footing above treeline - bring your dull spikes. |
