One of us postholed down to a deep puddle (wet boot and sock) on the way down Saddleback to the low point between peaks. This was just before the ice falls. |

We used snowshoes on the uphill access from the base lodge, then switched to microspikes along the ridge. It would be possible to do the whole trip on microspikes, but if I were to go again tomorrow, I'd climb with snowshoes and leave them at tree line to be picked up on the way down. Mixed bag of footing above treeline - bring your dull spikes. |
