Comments
Comments: Some bare spots on the first steep climb, then progressively deeper snow. Someone did a lot of deep postholing for the first two miles. Lots of moose postholes beyond. Despite a mid-morning start, snow was firm, but I used snowshoes to bridge the gaping postholes. Very little exposed ice. Snow pack on last steep climb puts branches starting at waist height, so lots of ducking and weaving and knocking snow off branches. Tree branches were shedding their icy coating all afternoon. Amazing 360 views from the summit, thanks to the snow pack for making me taller than the scrub trees. Trail north from the summit is unbroken.
