Comments
Comments: Well, I'm getting this right the first time (NOT filing it under NH, like my other report from Monday - Red Rock).

What a beautiful trail. Never really difficult either. Begins with a small water fall on the side. Lovely evergreen areas and hardwood as well. Spruce Hill is wooded, but along the hike you can get very obstructed peeks of the surrounding area. A few areas are slightly boggy, but not a real problem. There is a mini meadow close to the top; very ferny, some old lovely birches, and good berries to eat (yeah, there should be a few left). Not long afterward you pop out onto the summit of Speckled Mtn. Old fire tower remnants and great views. Lovely sunny afternoon; fun watching the clouds and fog play peek a boo with the Royces. Fun to see Caribou (last summer) and Red Rock (two days previous) in the distance. We were considering Durgin, but after hearing a few rumbles decided to leave it for another day. Met a woman who had hiked it as a child when the fire tower still stood. She was able to go up and get an even better view.

Why does Evens Notch have to so far away......
