Parking/Access Road Notes: Official sign for Big Spencer at the turn-off road leading to trailhead. See www.nhmountainhiking.com for road directions. Dirt parking lot on left marked with large sign for Big Spencer Preserve.

Water Crossing Notes: one boggy section just before steep section 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Two Maine state workers constructed over 30 large water bar-trenches with Kobota heavy equipment. They cleared the trail (a woods road)all the way up to the now demolished firewarden's cabin

Dog-Related Notes: None encountered. Several steep ledges & ladders on trail above cabin.

Bugs: a few mosquitoes in parking lot.

Comments: True summit is a very thick bushwhack 0.2 mile south of the open ledge where communications equipment is located (we did not get far before aborting). You can see the summit from the ledge. Building atop tower has been removed.
