Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: from the junction of 4 and 16 in rangeley we drove about 9.5 miles then took a left onto a dirt logging road. i will defer to franklinsites.com for the exact turn directions as i don't remember them off the top of my head, but the road eventually climbs with numerous deep drainage ditches that will only be passable with higher clearance vehicles. park at about 4.2 miles from rt. 16 where the road makes a hard left and another road continues straight ahead.

Comments
Comments: we followed the road straight ahead, which eventually became grassy and more like a trail, to a boundary cut marked with a yellow post and blazes which we followed to the left to a height of land where we picked up a herd path to the summit. some blowdown along the boundary line and on the herd path. herd path obscure in spots with multiple choices in a couple of places. summit has canister and sign. retraced our steps on the descent.

nice hike to top off the day. was happy to have marks truck for our drive to this one with the deep drainage ditches higher up. would probably add at least 1.5 miles if in a low clearance vehicle. this hike was navigationally very straight forward, but the herd path was pretty obscure in spots and care was needed to follow it. nice day picking up a few more nehh peaks. thanks to mark for a good one.
