| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
took 161 from the border crossing to 212 then drove about 3.5 miles to the mont gosford gatehouse. $8 to get in and they have a self service station if there is no attendant. from there we drove the perimeter road for 7.4 miles before turning right onto chemin de la grive which we followed to its end in a gravel pit. the perimeter road was rough in spots, but the spur road to the pit would have been hard in a low clearance vehicle as it is quite rough. |

the atv trail crosses a small brook just out of the gravel pit which had no stepping stones so required stepping in a bit of water. |

| Comments: |
from the gravel pit we followed the atv trail that leaves the far end of the gravel pit up to the border swath. the atv road started steep and rough, but mellowed higher up.
turning left (north) onto the boundary swath there was good walking with a few rocky areas all the way to boundary peak which was marked with a cairn, canister and sign (panther peak). marked donated an extra shoelace to tie the can back up to the tree. numerous hunting blinds along the canadian side of the swath would have me thinking twice about hiking this route during hunting season.
the $2.25 map at the gatehouse was helpful.
an interesting first hike of the day. actually my first time in canada. views from the peak and swath were great. definitely a fair amount of time committed to getting across the border and into the mont gosford park, but the hike itself is pretty short and straight forward. some nice guys up working on their hunting shack put marks memory of french to work. good hike.
