Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings have stepping stones or, in one case, a large log spanning the shores...all our feet stayed dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple of large blowdowns on Baldface Circle Trail between North Baldface and trailhead.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I'd heard conflicting reports regarding whether one should or should not bring a dog on this hike. I played it conservative and left Max at home. In retrospect, my energetic and capable border terrier COULD have done this hike (with a few helpful boosts), but he probably would not have enjoyed it. Max has no problems with most ledges and he loves to hike with me...but I'm glad he wasn't with us for this one. I think this would have been a bit too much to ask of him.

Comments
Comments: The girls LOVED the ledges and scrambles up Baldface Circle trail to South Baldface! This was their kind of trail. Neither Alex nor Sage faltered, though Sage got (happily) stuck in the little cave and had to be pulled out by Natalie. Good thing my youngest child is still fairly small and stretchy.

The bottom ledges were wet and slippery...thankfully the upper sections were dry...I would not want to do this hike in the rain!!

We started out with Hugh, Mark, Natalie, Mike, and Donna...then we all met Dan and Janelle (Buffalo and Tough Cookie) just below the South Baldface summit. All of us then hiked the rest of the loop together. Perfect weather, great views, good company. Congrats to Dan and Janelle for being only 8 hikes away from their 52WAV finish!

I'll have a report on my blog this Tuesday night (October 23). However, Mark Truman already posted a great TR on his blog, "Ramblings."
