Comments
Comments: For all the talk about Scar this really was a pretty nice hike. Ascended the tote road/ ski trails to North Loon under crystal clear skies and far reaching views..Ducked onto bootleg ski trail which we followed for aways..some one has spent some time cutting this baby out. On ascent we took the third herd path to the left at a sharp corner..on descent we popped out on the second herd path and this was a way easier route.. On ascent we skirted swampy area to the right and got into some thick stuff in places interspersed with 100 yard herd paths. Lost sun glasses..had Bryan mark a spot when I realized it and continued on our way Gradually made our way to the sw side of ridge and ascended to the wide flat summit from there..Some scattered flagging and different colors evident in the woods. Cool canister with lots of familiar names. On descent we stayed more to the north and descended through quite open woods with occasional paths til we hit 3100 which is about where I thought I lost the glasses..checked the gps and move through some thick stuff till Bryan marked that spot..then dropped down a 100 yards or so through crap..hit a small herd path that dead ended that I remembered..and there were the glasses.....we cut back over to our earlier bearing and hit the swamp on the right which was much easier and took a distinct path from there to the second herd path off the ski trail..Real good day out with Bryan. This peak gets a bad rap..not that bad a hike at all
