This is the Mount Webster in the Squam Range, NOT the Mount Webster at the Southwestern end of the Presidentials. Nice trip for a few hours with your dog. Plowed parking on Old Mountain Road has room for 8 or more cars, I have never seen more than 2. Ascends Old Mountain Road for 0.5 miles to col. Turn right for Mt Livermore, left to Mount Webster. Lots of ice flows on Old Mountain Road. Trail parallels stone wall on West side of ridge for .5 mile then climbs ridge and follows another stone wall for another 0.5 mile. At 2 miles there are fine views to the East of Squam Lake, Red Hill and the "Mountains-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.". Trail was well tracked out to this viewpoint. From here to top was only lightly traveled and I was glad I had snowshoes. Trail now climbs to top of ridge via switchbacks with a view to the West at 2.6 miles. The Ridgepole trail moves to the westside of the summit ridge for the full length of the summit which is roughly .4 miles long. A bushwhack is required and I hit several PUDs and finallly decided on a reasonable guesstimate of the summit, which coincided with my altimeter. Lots of surveyer flagging up there for reasons unclear to me. Bushwhacking is not difficult on the summit ridge.
