Date of Hike: Monday, November 12, 2012
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Easy parking at both ends on a federal holiday in November. Coming in from the east, I found the Ted's Trail TH before reaching the Wapack Trail TH, so I decided to try it.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All bridged on Ted's Trail; none that I remember on Marion Davis Trail
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in great shape. The blowdowns on Ted's Trail were easy to get around and not dangerous.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: You have to wear your leash in the Wapack National Wildlife Refuge. This includes all the trails on North Pack. It's a good idea to have the leash handy for Pack as well because there are so many two-legged and four-legged friends there.

Comments
Comments: I had to attempt these peakss as two separate out-and-back hikes.A friend had organized a small group to hike Pack starting at noon from Miller State Park. I got up early so I could check out North Pack in the morning. Ted's Trail is a very nice route, with scenic forest, streamside travel, and rock outcrops with views. It does seem to meander quite a bit though. A little past South Cliff, I needed a short break and reached my turn around time. It was frustrating to be so close to a summit and have to turn back because of a curfew. But it was still a nice hike, and more remote than the hike up Pack. That was nice too though.
