Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The AMC lot was full to overflowing when we returned. The entrance to the train station has not been plowed so parking there is not possible.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The second crossing on Avalon trail not completely bridge but easily crossed, the other crossings were bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: On blowdown on Avalon about 1/2 mile from the trailhead, easily stepped over. Otherwise the entire loop was free of obstacles.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: With the snow there are no ledges at all on this loop. However, there was blood on the trail from the top of Field to the parking lot. There was really nothing on the trail to cut a pad. I'm guessing it might have come from ice balls in the pad. It's a good idea to carry booties with you just in case.
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Saw a water bottle on the trail a little below Mt. Avalon. Left it there.
