From HQ - White Dot, Cascade Link, Spellman, Pumpelly, White Cross
Unusually warm January day in the mid 40's made for mashed potato like conditions all day. No significant snowfall here in the last couple weeks so, most of the major trails are packed out. Asked the ranger first and then decided to leave the snowshoes in the car. Bare booted the first half mile then, microspikes the rest of the day. My partner choose a full crampon for the Spellman Trail, for insurance. Lots of bare rock above tree-line. Of course, after this freezes up, you will want to bring light traction as well as, Full Crampons. |
