	Trails:	Starr King Road, Starr King Trail

	Date of Hike:	Tuesday, January 29, 2013

	Parking/Access Road Notes:	The road up to the summer trailhead had obviously been plowed, but yesterday's snow was plowed and sanded only as far as the upper house. The lower winter lot had been plowed.

	Surface Conditions:	Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder

	Recommended Equipment:	Snowshoes, Light Traction

	Water Crossing Notes:	There are no streams on this trail. The drainage ditches except for the first one were bridged. The first was an easy step over.

	Trail Maintenance Notes:	The trail is clear, well packed and smooth from bottom to top.

	Dog-Related Notes:	A smooth trail from bottom to top. A great beginner trail for a dog.

	Bugs:

	Lost and Found:	Someone left a hat on the hood of my car. If it's yours E-mail me and I'll send it home.


	Comments:	The trail under 3" of fresh soft powder was well packed all the way to Waumbec. There were a couple of short stretches that had a few post holes but as it stands right now you can wear what you wish on your feet without damaging the trail. This might not be true during the Wednesday warm up.
