There was one large section early-on that was a snow/slush mix, but could be walked around. |

Bent over trees were everywhere. One hiker on the trail took the time to clip some of the worst of the face-level branches. Thanks! |

The trail was quite packed down by the end of the hike(thanks to a group of 30+ scouts who hiked in after us.) We used snow shoes. 3 barebooters who planned to try for Chocorua were postholing badly. The ice at Champney falls was lovely, and the ice climbers were a treat to watch. Photos at the website below. |
