Interesting hike. Lion Head and vacinity got plastered with snow by the northeaster. Steep section of Winter Lion Head Trail challenging with MICROspikes, especially on descent through loose power with hard crust beneath. Ice ax necessary. Summit plastered with rime. Skiers out and about--met two skinning to the summit, and saw two ski Connection Gully next to Lion Head. It takes an exceptional dumping of snow to fill Connection Gully and the "rock glacier" beneath it. |
