Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Welton Falls Road is plowed and sanded up to the intersection with Cream Hill Road (road that splits off to the right and goes up hill to the wolf sanctuary). From this point to the short distance to the parking area near the barricaded bridge, the road has not been plowed but has been tracked by cars. The parking area has not been plowed but has been tracked/packed down by cars. A two-wheel-drive vehicle should not have any problem driving to the trailhead -- there's room for two or three cars there now. NOTE: with recent warm temperatures and melting, parts of Welton Falls Road were getting a bit muddy and sloggy...mud season is nigh.

Comments
Comments: Old Dicey Road has been tracked down/hardpacked by snowmobiles and four-wheel-drive vehicles almost all the way to the Elwell Trail: barebooting here is fine. After that, snowshoes are recommended; there's at least two or three feet of new, heavy, spring snow on the trail and more (some drifts of two feet) at higher elevations. Prior to today, the Elwell Trail was completely unbroken in both directions -- it's now broken up to Oregon Mountain.
