I read Tim and Val's report about their experience on the WRT to Wildcat B. So I tried it today to reach Wildcat A. My kudos to the three who blasted through tough conditions. Amazing how they stayed on or near the trail. I put some branches on a false detour and did the same when I went off trail once. A trail is now blazed to Wildcat A. I thought of going down to Carter Notch if the trail had been used. There were no signs that anyone had come up on that trail so I decided to head back the way I came. In some places my tracks will probably be filled in again but for most of it it should be pretty obvious where it goes. A good idea is to wear goggles because all the snow leaden branches are at eye level. Be prepared to crouch down a lot to get through it or just push through it. At the end I was soaked by all the snow that wedged between my back and the backpack. |
