Comments
Comments: Fed up with the tyranny of all the elitist "snowshoe" only hikers, I took my group of barebooters up the moats today without them. The trail up to South Moat alternated between patches of bare ground and packed snow (and not too deep). Past South Moat we laid out a great posthole track all the way past Middle Moat to the Red Ridge junction. Turned back there, but we decided we claim credit for N. Moat on our lists since achievement isn't important, we just want the benefit. Lots of snow in this section and it got mushy later in the day.

While snow squalls were visible on the peaks off the Kanc and in the Presi's, we had sunshine the whole time! It was a great day for the 99% to make a statement. We will not be held back because we can't afford snowshoes. The mountains are open to all, even those of us who have only jeans and boots. Nobody in this country got rich on their own, and you members of the 1% with fancy showshoes, $120 gaiters, and $600 arc'terx shells should not try and intimidate the rest of us off the trails. Thought I saw Scott B. zipping by in his snowshoes, no shirt, and some kind of smaller than usual briefs complaining how he couldn't get his pickup truck in the lot with all my entourage's suburbans blocking the way.

Great day out while the rest of the world was at work!
