Comments
Comments: What a glorious day. A few flowers..trillium, trout lily, some hobblebush in bloom along lower Valley Way. Spotty snow then monorail above 3200 feet or so. High rail in spots..mostly solid we used spikes to the hut. Once above the hut Osgood dry to Madison and back. Hard not to linger on the peaks today..very spectacular above treeline. Once through the drifts around the hut dry rock to Adams where again we lingered..Bugs eventually chased us off..saw all 7 people we met today right around the Adams summit. Long snow field over to Edmands much softer than last week..only place on the trip where we could have used snowshoes but frankly not worth carrying for the rest of it. Climb to Jefferson straight forward ..the side slope area easily crossed today and we stayed on snowfield much of the way to summit. Nice long break then headed over on dry trail to Jewell. Once to treeline snow pack increased and we did some rail smashing to around 3700 feet where mostly dry trail took over. A phenomenal relaxed day in near perfect conditions. Thanks so much Jeff and Karine for an excellent day. Whats not to like?
