Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Quasi lot off Route 171 (near Sodom Road) was packed mid-morning.

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None on the ascent. On descent, three on Mt. Shaw Trail, all relatively easy rock hops. 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns on Tate and Banana trails. 
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not much water except lower elevations of Mt. Shaw Trail. Lots of ticks. 
Bugs
Bugs: Black flies were a little vexing near the parking lot, but decreasingly so as one ascends. Some mosquitoes out. Ticks of course.

Comments
Comments: Trails were mostly dry and in good shape. While Mt. Shaw is just under 3,000 feet in elevation, it packs over 2,000 vertical feet. Lots of wildflowers in bloom (fringed polygala, bellwort, trillium, blueberry blooms, lady slippers).
