Comments
Comments: most everything was wet today. the dirt road up rowe was in good shape and a bit damp up high. wet ledge and some standing water on the ridge trail over to the ski trails. i decided to ascend the access road rather than following the flintlock route which proved to be a mess. lots of running water and erosion. some spotty new snow in places. heading to the belknap gunstock col it became quite wet with a lot of running and standing water and mud with some slushy snow as well. this was pretty much the story to the top of belknap where some of the summit area is taped off owing to removal of the 3 buildings up there. the brook trail was quite wet and muddy in places, but in nice shape down low. had nearly written today off, but woke up to a nice morning so decided to spend a couple hours in the belknaps. the new snow up high was interesting and views were actually quite good to the southern whites from various points and to kearsarge and cardigan from the summit tower on belknap. windy and cool up high. a great sloppy day to be out.
