Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Many crossings were running higher than normal but all could be rock hopped with slightly submerged boots
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: About half a dozen blowdowns between the trailhead and Webster Cliff trail and areas of standing water and mud, as was the case everywhere - Mizpah Cutoff and Crawford Path weren't as bad in the afternoon. Did trail maintenance between Webster and Jackson so that section is in good shape - just one large 12"+ blowdown that will need a chainsaw to clear.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hannah had a great day - lots of water and mud everywhere and no issues with the snow or terrain. We saw a BIG porcupine on Crawford Path between 302 and the Crawford Connector - fortunately Hannah listened and came back before getting too close, but be careful if you have a dog off leash in that area.

Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Trail maintenance day for my section of Webster Cliff Trail - snow started just under 3000', easily walked around at first but was then a steady 1-2" of wet slush increasing to 4-6" in spots on the ridge. In shady spots the snow was more consolidated and a bit icy - Ali wore micros and I stayed in bareboots and we both managed fine. Lots of slush bombs with the snow melting off the trees - we both wore shells while doing maintenance and were glad we did. A bit chilly and breezy on the ridge but temps warmed up and the wind died down a bit during the afternoon. Not surprisingly tons of water and mud - the snow should be gone in the next few days but the mud probably won't be. Great day out with Ali and Hannah - thanks for being troopers with the crazy conditions!
