| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
at .8 miles in a blowdown involving about 4 trees cross the trail at just the wrong height - can't go under, can't go over, so find a way around. It appears to be recent. 8-10" in diameter each. Brunel Trail to Owls Cliff needs brushing/blazing after the steep down from Tremont. Other blowdowns are manageable. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
saw none, but plenty of water first 1.5 miles, then no standing water but wet in places. |
| Bugs: |
Black flies and mosquitoes were out and biting if I wasn't moving. DEET helped today. |

No views till the summit then FANTASTIC view to the SW. Definitely worth the trip. I headed down 500' in elevation towards Owls Cliff on Brunel Trail - trail clear and obvious but near the saddle it brushes in quickly and I lost the trail, and not having been here before and hiking solo played it safe, turned around and did the 500' steep back up Tremont. That 500' elevation UP on Brunel is steeper than anything on Mt Tremont Trail :) |
