Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Banana Trail is informal and unsigned, but well-blazed and easy to follow, once you find it (best done by the Trail Bandit map). The top part, at least, of the Thunderbird Trail, which was a short and easy alternate route down to McDuffie Road from Mt. Shaw a few years ago, has since been decimated by blowdowns and is practically impassible.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Delilah enjoyed herself thoroughly. There were a number of trailside pools by the Banana Trail for cooling herself off on a muggy day.
Bugs
Bugs: Moderate. Breezes kept them off the ledges.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:

Comments
Comments: I wish we'd kept to our original plan, of continuing on by the Gorilla Trail to Mt. Flagg and then on to Mt. Sentinel. The forecasted p.m. showers, which never happened,
