Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked at Edmands and rode my bike down to Crawford Notch because I thought I might bail out due to weather. Nobody there when I got there (7:30) and two others when I returned (4:00). The lots at Highland Center, the old train station, and the W-J trailhead were wide open.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only crossing without a bridge is on the W-J Trail (the same brook that flows over Silver Cascades a little downstream... The USGS map calls the whole brookok by that name); the crossing was a piece of cake; the cascade just above it beautiful; and the swimming hole tempting... But I didn't want to get wet ;-)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are all in great shape, considering the traffic they he and the rain.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs aren't generally stoopid enough to be out in weather like this.
Bugs

Comments
Comments: Above timberline, and especially in the Presis, I'm always disheartened to see how every year the trails keep getting wider and the delicate ecosystem keeps getting degraded. As much as I hate to say anything nice about New York, their project outlining the trails with small rocks carried up by volunteer hikers really seems to be working.

Just sayin'

And never, ever discredit Franklin, even though it's not an "official" mountain. Franklin wasn't a official president either, unless you mean Roosevelt! Franklin the dude and Franklin the mountai are bot prett cool!

A great day wandering around I the rain!
