Comments
Comments: Trail was very soft at the lower elevations in the morning but quite firm farther up. Used Microspikes for first 1/2 mile but could have gone with snowshoes from the start. Switched to snowshoes after first 1/2 and used them the rest of the day. Upper 1/2 of trail tot Starr King and across to Waumbek in really good shape. Appears that everyone has been wearing snowwhoes on upper sections. Beautiful (warm) day today and quite a bit of traffic with people trying to grab Waumbek as final winter peak. Beautiful walk on upper sections and over to Waumbek with sun through the trees. Celebrated the start of spring at 1:23 on Starr King summit on the way back so didn't get the additional W4K today for us. Didn't matter to us though - great way to wind up three great day of winter hiking.
