The trail is badly eroded in a couple of sections on the way to the summit.

Comments
Comments: I had Iron Mountain to myself in the early morning. It's pretty much the coolest little mountain you've never hiked. The views from the trailhead are more than worth the drive. While the trail to the summit might not be the best maintained thing you've ever hiked on, the views from various ledges more than outweigh it. Checked out the old iron mine, where you can see the water filled shaft, and some large tailing piles. Everything wet and slippery in the early morning, so I took my time, partial undercast views!
