Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Trailhead parking lot for the Piper Trail was busy, but it's a large lot with plenty of space.
Surface Conditions

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossings were not an issue.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are in decent shape. There is a single medium-sized (~12-inch diameter) duck-under blowdown on the Piper Trail near the spur to Camp Penacook -- it's just low enough that it takes a bit of limbo-ing to get under. The Nickerson Ledge Trail might also benefit from a cairn or blaze at Nickerson Ledge, where the trail hooks back into the woods.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs -- brisk breezes all day kept them at bay.

Comments
Comments: Our goal was to do a loop over Middle Sister -- enjoying the fine Carter Ledge Trail on the way up -- and possibly head on over to Chocorua, before coming down the Piper Trail.

We had such a great time going up the scramble-y Carter Ledge Trail, with its excellent views, and then having lunch in the sun on Middle Sister, that we opted to bypass Chocorua (and the crowds) altogether.
