Comments
Comments: trails were generally dry with some muddy spots and sections of wet ledge. the now marked route from cannon over and down mittersill left from the lodge behind a sign prohibiting hiking. mixed messages? a good sized cairn beyond this sign gives it away, but it isn't marked from the summit of cannon proper. once on the ascent of mittersill it pretty well follows the standard route many hikers used in the past. yellow blazes on rock and on posts mark the way.

nice day with good temps and an amazing undercast in the notch all day. this made for dramatic views from all summits, but south kinsman in particular when just the tips of waterville and sandwich range 4ks were visible in a sea of thick white cloud. very cool. thanks to cynthia for a nice hike.
