We had been wanting to see the Iron Ore Mine on Iron Mountain for a while now, so we went finally. We had the whole mountain to ourselves all day. We got to see the remains of the Fire Tower, then headed over to the South Cliffs. We then took the spur to the mine, found the mine with the water in it, some of the holes drilled in to the rock and the best find was the tunnel(about 60 feet deep). Before leaving we went to a sub peak called Duck Head and located the remains of the old rope tow on Iron Mountain Slope.
It snowed on and off and at one point it was coming down at a good rate. We posted a video if anyone would like to see the adventure or the trail conditions, just follow the link. |
