Comments
Comments: Started up FR304A off Haystack Road at the "3 boulders" and turned just past the sand/gravel hill onto an older logging road heading up a ridge on the right (this road was not immediately obvious with the fallen leaves). Pushed along on a rough herd path through the overgrown clearing, and struck a line up to the col between the false East peak and the small bump to its NW. Mostly good woods in here except near the clearing. From the col, followed the ridge up to the false summit, finding mostly open woods (tightened up further up) with a few ledges, blowdowns, and spruce messes that were generally avoidable. From near the false summit, we picked up the herd path to the recognized summit, which had a small mess of blowdowns surrounding it. 3rd consecutive day someone was on this summit. A terrific view from right next to the summit, wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Re-traced our steps heading down, reached the cars just before it started lightly raining.

A trace of snow at the start, with a couple inches of wet sticky snow up high, which was wet to push through. By the time we descended, the snow was mostly gone above ~2800ft.

A great hike with Pam, Trey, and Phillip, congrats to all on checkmarks, and thanks for the fun trip. My NEHH#85.

We brought the microspikes, and a couple of us used them on a few ledges up high, but they were not completely necessary. Some ice hiding in there though, so bring them just in case.
