Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A lightly used alternative to Kearsarge North Trail, there were plenty of blowdowns to deal with, but most were easy stepovers. I delimbed a large tree down in the trail, about 0.5 miles from the summit. Several large areas of mud lurking under the frozen ground. Trail is decently marked, but the footbed isn't always easy to discern. Quite brushy in spots, in the last mile to the summit.

Comments
Comments: Took the back way to Kearsarge North today. You can tell it receives far less traffic than the other trail on the mountain, but it is wild feeling, and Shingle Pond was quite nice. A light coating of crusty snow at the start, with some bare ground, and much ice once within about a mile of the summit. Barebooted up to within about 0.5, then on with the spikes. Great views from the tower, though very hazy to the east, Presidentials in the clear. Spikes on until about 1 mile from the summit, then off for the rest of the hike. Good day to knock this trail off!
