Comments
Comments: With high winds, though forecast to decrease and shift through the day, and some clearing, Mike and I decided to give Jefferson and Adams a third shot. Lowe's was broken out all the way, and it appears that Randolph was broken up to Perch Path. We broke out Randolph to treeline, in anywhere between 4 to 12+ inches of medium density powder, with some drifts. Crossing the north side of Edmands Col was exciting, as Washington was recording gusts over 90 at the time. We took a short section of the Cornice, then angled up to the summit of Jefferson, managing to stay mostly on snowfields. High winds and jaw dropping views. Descending to Edmands Col mostly on trail (avoiding the Jefferson snowfield on the high side), we sometimes stayed on it, and sometimes off of it, depending on snow depths. Bagged Adams V for the hell of it, then went for Adams proper. Less coverage on the Adams summit cone, and still brutal wind while on the summit. All of my summit shots came out blurry thanks to the gusty winds! Moving as quick as we could in the mixed conditions, we made it below treeline before dark, and paid a visit to Adam at Gray Knob. A good snowshoe out in warmer conditions, the snow softening. Down to Lowe's a bit after 7, then the foodening. Thanks to Mike for an epic day, and here's to having one and two left on our Winter 48 lists (respectively).
