Comments
Comments: Although we brought snowshoes, we elected to leave them in the car and wore microspikes the entire hike, and did not regret it. We saw about a dozen people and everybody was wearing spikes except 2 people with snowshoes. The snow was hard packed powder all the way up, with a small section of ice. Only a few postholes, mostly near the top. I measured one with my hiking pole, and it was almost 3 feet deep. We were entertained by a pair of gray jays who were hanging out by the fireplace chimney on Starr King. The sun was out the entire trip, so near the bottom, the trail had become soft and a little slippery. A beautiful hike on a beautiful day, easy trail.
